Introducing the TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 Edition

Perfectly proportioned and powered by an in-house mechanical movement, Hugh Rice are proud to present the all-silver TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925. When you think about TUDOR, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight collection immediately comes to mind. Launched by the brand in 2018, the collection ticks many boxes for watch enthusiasts. The expertly crafted Black Bay Fifty-Eight is chronometer-certified and known for its durability, and exceptional performance over time. We’ve previously seen the range in stainless steel and most recently in 18CT yellow-gold, but now, TUDOR have surprised us all by launching the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 in sterling silver.

Launched as a tribute to TUDOR’s classic mid-century diving watches, the collection takes its name from the year 1958, in which the first TUDOR divers’ watch waterproof to 200 metres (660 ft), reference 7924 or “Big Crown”, was introduced. The Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 is equipped with new flourishes including the transparent case back, taupe dial and of course, the case is made from 925 silver - a rarely used metal in the watch industry.

The collection retains the well-loved 39MM case size along with other key characteristics from the collection such as the tapered lugs, the unidirectional diving bezel and the oversized TUDOR rose embossed screw-down crown. The taupe dial is coupled with steel and white accents, adopting the iconic TUDOR snowflake hands and dot indexes that we’ve come to know and love. The domed sapphire crystal glass protects the dial and is framed by an anodized aluminium unidirectional bezel, rendered in a taupe hue and adding a vintage-chic look. TUDOR has equipped the collection with a sapphire case-back - another first for their diver’s watch range - which showcases the movement and also changes the aesthetics of the case for a slightly bolder and daring finish.

The new models in the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight range are powered by the in house manufacture Calibre MT5400 movement. Durable and accurate, the MT5400 is COSC chronometer-certified and offers even greater accuracy at -2/+4 seconds per day. Waterproof up to 200M and complete with an impressive 70-hour power reserve - you could take off the watch on Friday evening and put it on again on Monday morning without having to reset it; a notable feature even if you can’t bring yourself to remove such a masterpiece from your wrist. The Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 models are available to purchase from Hugh Rice in store with a choice of two straps. For a more casual and sportier look, you have the option of choosing the textured, two-tone taupe fabric strap. For a more refined finish, the collection is available on a brown leather strap with cream stitching and a silver buckle. The exceptional Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 is designed for slim wrists, it doesn’t feel too thick or heavy and it remains a perfect fit, even after plenty of wear. Made for those who like more compact watches and vintage enthusiasts alike, the TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 is an understated, precious-metal diving watch, designed for every day and every style.
