The workshop has always been at the heart of Hugh Rice. We were established in 1971 as a clock and watch repairers by founder Hugh. In 1974 his brother Mike joined him as an apprentice jeweller, and we have been providing a vast range of services for jewellery and watches ever since.

Bespoke designs are a real passion for our Service and Design teams. For four decades we’ve produced unique and personal pieces from brand new exclusive designs to reworked family heirlooms and re-imagined sentimental pieces.

To ensure the highest quality craftsmanship, we’ve recently invested in state-of-the-art design software to help bring your jewellery vision to life. No notion is too ambitious for our team and we relish the challenge of any creation. With a Service and Design Centre in both our St Stephens and Harrogate stores, we’re ready to create the jewellery of your dreams in your personal bespoke journey.

The journey starts with design. Join our designers for a free consultation; sit down and let them realise your thoughts on paper in a hand-drawn sketch.

Next, we create. Leave your design with us and we’ll build a 3D model using in-house computer design software, tweaking every last detail to your liking.

Then, we model. Your design is brought to life as a wax model. See and feel your creation, and with your approval we can finalise the design.

From there, we cast. Your 3D design is cast in the metal of your choosing and delivered to us ready for finishing.

Finally, we finish. Stones are set and metal is polished as our jeweller’s hand-finish and quality-check your design in our on-site workshop.
