Part of the Aviator 8 collection and inspired by the British de Havilland Mosquito – a British aircraft whose lightweight wooden construction made it one of the fastest planes in the skies during World War II- the new Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph by Breitling features a generous 43 mm case diameter, accentuating its presence on the wrist and enhancing the originality of its design, whilst taking inspiration from the onboard clocks designed by Breitling’s Huit Aviation Department in the 1930’s and 40’s. Crafted from both polished and satin-brushed stainless steel, the 43 mm case contains a black dial with contrasting silver chronograph counters. Adorning the dial, steel-toned baton indexes and hour and minute hands feature with a Super­LumiNova® coating, which makes the watch legible in limited-light situations. The eye-catching red and orange accents recall the military roundels and markings featured on the fuselage of the de Havilland Mosquito and add to the watch’s allure. The three chronograph sub-dials keep track of ¼ seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours, and a date window is located between the 4 and 5 o'clock positions. Finished with the iconic Breitling branding and protected with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass cover and a transparent case back which offers a view of the intricate craftsmanship inside. Surrounding the dial is the black satin-brushed ADLC-coated steel bi-directional bezel with a practical red pointer, indexes and Arabic numerals which measures a specific elapsed time to a resolution of fractions of a second. Presented on a brown vintage leather strap - known for its softness and ability to look good over time - with a tang-type fastening for the ultimate comfort and convenience. With an automatic, self-winding mechanical movement and a Breitling 01 engine, 47 jewels beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and an impressive 70-hour power reserve, it's recognisable for its unmistakable, cutting-edge watchmaking technology.
