A LEGACY OF TRUST. A FUTURE OF EXCELLENCE
In 1965, a young apprentice named Hugh Rice began a journey in fine watchmaking and jewellery that would shape generations.
After honing his craft at Carmichael’s in Hull, Hugh opened his first store in a modest basement on George Street in 1971. From that small workshop - originally focused on watch repairs and servicing - he built a reputation for quality craftsmanship, personal care, and lasting customer relationships.
Joined in 1974 by his brother Mike, the business soon expanded into fine jewellery, growing into one of the region’s most respected names in luxury - known as much for its exceptional service as for its carefully curated collections.
In 2015, we proudly opened our first Luxe by Hugh Rice store in Beverley, followed by a second in Hull in 2018 - beautiful boutiques specialising in contemporary designs, lab-grown diamonds branded jewellery including Pandora, Nomination, Thomas Sabo, Vivienne Westwood and many more.
Also in 2018, we became official Rolex stockists - a landmark achievement reflecting our expertise and long-standing commitment to excellence in watchmaking.
In 2022, our watch workshop achieved Rolex accreditation, confirming that our facilities, tools, and watchmakers meet Rolex’s world-class standards for servicing and aftercare.
Though Hugh sadly passed away in 2024, his vision, values, and dedication to customer care remain at the heart of everything we do. Today, Hugh Rice continues as a proud family-run jeweller, delivering expert service, premium jewellery, and luxury watches across generations.
Our Hull store offers a personal, boutique experience where you’ll find the world’s most coveted Swiss luxury watches including Rolex, OMEGA, TUDOR, Breitling, and TAG Heuer - alongside our exclusive Hugh Rice diamond jewellery collection.
We also specialise in engagement rings and wedding rings, helping you find the perfect piece to celebrate life’s most meaningful moments.
Behind the scenes, our dedicated Service Department ensures your jewellery and timepieces receive the expert care they deserve. From general repairs to watch servicing, our Rolex-approved workshop delivers certified aftercare using official parts and processes - upholding the same high standards that have defined us since the beginning.
In 2024, we were proud to launch the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned (RCPO) programme, offering authenticated Rolex timepieces that meet the same exacting standards as new models - another milestone in our ongoing commitment to quality, trust, and excellence.
